Abstract:

Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi received the Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Master of Technology in Control & Instrumentation from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and PhD degree in Control System Engineering from the University Of Sheffield, UK. He took over the charge of Director, NIT Warangal on 27.04.2023 (F.N.). Prior to this, he was a Professor in the School of Electrical Sciences and Dean (R&D) at IIT Goa and is currently on deputation. He served as a Professor, Electrical Engineering, Dean (Alumni Relation & Resource Generation), HoD, Electrical Engineering at NIT Rourkela.He also served as a Visiting Professor at the Univ. of Saskatchewan, Canada and in Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok.

He was a recipient of the Prestigious Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award of the Odisha Bigyan Academy, Govt. of Odisha and Distinguished Alumnus Award, NIT Rourkela. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, IET (UK), and Distinguished Speaker for ACM. He serves as a Technical Committee Member of the IEEE Technical Committees on Intelligent Control, IEEE Consumer Electronics (Power and Energy), IFAC Computational Intelligence in Control, Steering Committee Member of the Asian Control Association, Member of the IFAC Council, and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Consumer Electronics (Power and Energy). He serves as an Editor with IEEE Transaction on Sustainable Energy,IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Access and IET Electronics Letter.His research interests include System & Control, Control of Power System, Embedded System and AI & Machine Learning. He has supervised 40 PhD students, published 164 peer reviewed journal papers, 110 papers in conference proceedings, 14 book chapters and 8 books.

Abstract:

Sanjeevikumar Padmanaban (Member’12–Senior Member’15, IEEE) received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy 2012. He is a Full Professor in Electrical Power Engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Cybernetics, University of South-Eastern Norway, Norway, and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Systems Council on Power Electronics in Renewable Energy System & Electric Vehicles. S. Padmanaban has authored over 750+ scientific papers and received the Best Paper cum Most Excellence Research Paper Award from IET-SEISCON’13, IET-CEAT’16, IEEE-EECSI’19, IEEE-CENCON’19, and five best paper awards from ETAEERE’16 sponsored Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, Springer book. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India, the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, U.K. He received a lifetime achievement award from Marquis Who’s Who – USA 2017 for contributing to power electronics and renewable energy research. He is listed among the world’s top 2 scientists (from 2019) by Stanford University USA. He is an Editor/Associate Editor/Editorial Board for refereed journals, in particular the IEEE Transaction on Industry Applications, IET Electronics Letters, and Wiley-International Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, Subject Editorial Board Member—Energy Sources—Energies Journal, MDPI, and the Deputy/Subject Editor for the IET Renewable Power Generation, IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution, and FACETS Journal (Canada).

Abstract:

Ali Ismail Awad (Ph.D., SMIEEE, MACM) is currently an Associate Professor of cybersecurity at the College of Information Technology, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. He has been coordinating the Master’s Program in Information Security at the same institution since 2022. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Dr. Awad is also a Visiting Researcher at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom. He is also an Associate Professor with the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Al-Azhar University at Qena, Egypt. Dr. Awad was an Associate Professor (Docent) with the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology (LTU), Luleå, Sweden, where he coordinated the Master’s Program in Information Security from 2017 to 2020. In 2021, he was promoted to a Recognized University Teacher rank at LTU for his pedagogical achievements. His research interests include cybersecurity, network security, Internet of Things (IoT) security, and image analysis with biometrics and medical imaging applications. Dr. Awad has edited or co-edited several books and authored or co-authored several journal articles and conference papers in these areas. In 2021, 2022, and 2023, he was listed in the top 2% of influential scientists worldwide. He is an Editorial Board member of Future Generation Computer Systems, Computers & Security, Internet of Things; Engineering Cyber-Physical Human Systems, Health Information Science and Systems, and  Security, Privacy and Authentication section by Frontiers. Dr. Awad is an IEEE Senior Member and an ACM Professional Member.

Tarlochan Sidhu

Abstract:

Prof. Tarlochan S. Sidhu received a B.E (Hons.) degree from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He has worked for the Regional Computer Center, Chandigarh, India, Punjab State Electricity Board, India and Bell-Northern Research Ltd., Ottawa, ON, Canada. From July 1990 to June 2002, he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, where he served as Professor and Graduate Chairman of the Department. From 2002-2011, he was Professor and Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. He also held the NSERC/Hydro One Networks Senior Industrial Research Chair in Power Systems Engineering. Effective January 2012, Dr. Sidhu joined the University of Ontario Institute Of Technology (now known as Ontario Tech University), Canada and served as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science till Feb 2020 where he currently holds the rank of Professor.

He has published more than 300 papers in refereed journals and conferences, has delivered many invited talks, short courses, tutorials around the world and has regularly provided consulting to power industries in Canada and abroad. Dr. Sidhu is a well-known international expert in the area of smart grid, substation automation and protection, and microgrids. He has supervised the work to completion of 25 Ph.D., 30 Master’s and 14 post-doctoral fellows. Dr. Sidhu has provided technical leadership as Chair or Member of working groups or sub- committees for international professional organizations such as IEEE Power System Relaying Committee(PSRC) and CIGRE (France). He has been involved in development of international standards and guides in the general area of smart grid and specifically in substation automation. A number of these works have won awards from these organizations and he was given the Distinguished Service Award of IEEE PSRC in 2011. Dr. Sidhu is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems published by De Gruyter(Germany).

He has served as Editor, IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery (2001-2012), Member of Editorial Board, Electric Power Components and Systems (published by Taylor and Francis), Member of Editorial Board, Electric Power Systems Research (published by Elsevier) and as Member of Editorial Board, IEEE Power Engineering Letters. Dr. Sidhu is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (U.K), a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (USA) and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and a Chartered Engineer in the U.K.
